Solid Gold!

Day 1: Arrive Anchorage

On arrival travel the 50 minutes south to the  Alyeska Hotel in Girdwood. A reception can be planned featuring the “gold miners cocktail”. The Alyeska Resort is a premier property and offers an indoor heated swimming pool with mountain views and a full health spa. It is perfect for relaxing after a long flight.

Day 2: The Grand Alaskan Outdoor Adventure!

Travel along the Kenai Peninsula, one of Alaska’s most scenic regions. In Seward you can board a private charter vessel for a cruise through the Kenai Fjords National Park - a world of whales and glaciers - and one of the great highlights of any visit to Alaska.  On-board naturalists  explain the marine life and birds of the region. The catered lunch features Alaskan seafood (including king crab and salmon).  The ‘open bar’ provides all day hospitality. The vessel returns to Seward this afternoon, and you transfer to the Kenai River for a rafting expedition.  This is the “Land of the Midnight Sun” and the rafting expedition journeys down the beautiful Kenai River. Expert guides ensure this is a fun event. The flat river flows through picture-perfect scenery and takes you to the site of an outdoor barbecue. Good food cooked on the grill and served outdoors with chilled Alaskan beer - it is a party Alaskan style!

Day 3: The Gold panning Championship!

Drive a few minutes to a historic gold mine, the Crow Creek Mine. In this rustic setting, many original wooden mining buildings remain, and it is here that the Alaska Gold panning Championship can take place! Panning practice takes place this morning, and lunch is specially catered in the old mining cabin. The menu theme will be “gold miners grub” -  hot beef stew, beans, potatoes, sourdough bread and Alaskan brewed beer.  After lunch we will hold the championship event.  Winning will require a combination of speed and expert skill.  Whoever reaps the most gold is the Grand Champion! The grand prize can be awarded at a gala dinner in the evening where the winner receives a gold nugget.  All competitors can receive commemorative gold pans (engraved with name) and small sack of real gold dust as a souvenir of Alaska.  Tonight a farewell dinner is at ‘Seven Glaciers Restaurant.’ The restaurant is reached by a cable car from the hotel and is perched 700 meters above panoramic views of glaciers and rugged mountains.

Day  4:  Gold prospectors return with the gold bullion!
